Radio jockey-turned-actor RJ Mahvash, co-owner of Supreme Strikers, made headlines on the eve of the Champions League T10 2025 opener after posting an Instagram story with the caption, “Match Day Jai Mata di.” The phrase has long been associated with Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who uses it before every match.
Mahvash’s side, led by former Australian opener Shaun Marsh, will take on Dynamic Dynamos in the tournament’s curtain-raiser on Friday, August 22, in Delhi.
Interestingly, Chahal had posted the same line on August 21, ahead of his English One-Day Cup 2025 outing for Northamptonshire against Kent. However, the leg-spinner endured a quiet day, finishing with figures of 10-0-44-0, as Kent chased down a 244-run target in 44.4 overs to hand Northamptonshire a seven-wicket defeat.
Despite the loss, Chahal remains a bright spot, being the team’s second-highest wicket-taker this season with six wickets from five innings. Northamptonshire, though, languish at the bottom of Group B, managing only one win in six matches.
