In a distinguished ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the prestigious Dhyan Chand Award (Lifetime) for the year 2023 upon Ms. Kavitha Selvaraj, recognizing her outstanding contributions to the sport of Kabaddi. The award ceremony celebrated Selvaraj’s remarkable achievements, particularly her gold medal triumph in the 16th Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China in 2010, along with her exceptional performances in the 2nd and 3rd Asian Kabaddi Championships in 2007 and 2008, where she clinched gold medals.
Kavitha Selvaraj’s journey to becoming a Kabaddi sensation has been marked by dedication, skill, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Her notable victory in the 16th Asian Games showcased not only her prowess but also her pivotal role in contributing to the success of the national Kabaddi team.
The 2nd and 3rd Asian Kabaddi Championships in 2007 and 2008 stand as a testament to Selvaraj’s consistent brilliance on the Kabaddi court. Her exemplary performances not only led the Indian team to victory but also earned her a special place in the hearts of Kabaddi enthusiasts across the nation.
