Cristiano Ronaldo took to social media with a motivating message after Al-Nassr’s dominant 5-0 victory over Al-Taawoun on Friday, August 29, in the Saudi Pro League. The emphatic win came shortly after the Riyadh-based club’s setback against Al-Ahli in the Saudi Super Cup final.
Al-Nassr, under new manager Jorge Jesus, have undergone a major rebuild this summer, signing the likes of Joao Felix, Inigo Martinez, and Kingsley Coman, while also convincing Ronaldo to extend his stay in June. Despite his stellar performances, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is still chasing his first league title in Saudi Arabia.
In the game, Felix marked his debut in style, opening the scoring in the 7th minute and later completing a brilliant hat-trick with strikes in the 67th and 87th minutes. Ronaldo added to the tally with a penalty in the 54th minute, before Coman scored just a minute later to extend the lead.
After the match, Ronaldo posted a picture of himself on social media with the caption: “First step”, reflecting his optimism about the campaign ahead.
Al-Nassr will next face Al Kholood on September 14 at the Al-Awwal Park, as they look to build on this convincing performance.
