Shreyas, Shashank play indoor Super Over at apartment

When rain forces players indoors, the game doesn’t stop—at least not for Punjab Kings (PBKS) skipper Shreyas Iyer and his 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) teammate Shashank Singh. The duo, who formed a strong batting partnership during the tournament, were recently seen taking their cricketing passion into the confines of Iyer’s apartment. The PBKS stars engaged in a spirited and fun-filled indoor Super Over clash that left fans smiling.

In a video shared by Punjab Kings on Instagram, the two cricketers recreated the thrill of a Super Over inside a narrow passageway of Iyer’s residence. Shreyas needed 12 runs to win from Shashank’s bowling. What followed was a cheeky yet competitive showdown that highlighted both the friendly chemistry and intensity between the two teammates.

Before the over began, Shashank amusingly informed his captain of the field placements—though fielders existed only in imagination due to the confined space. Shreyas responded by setting a rule that wide yorkers were off-limits, possibly due to the restricted dimensions of the corridor. The game began with Iyer smashing two boundaries off Shashank, prompting the bowler to turn up the heat with quicker deliveries. Observing the change, Shreyas quipped, “Gusse mein pace badh gaya” (His pace has increased because of anger), sending their fans into fits of laughter.

The video was captioned by PBKS as: “Rain hits. No field? No problem. Super over indoors. Brotherhood forever.” It not only gave fans a glimpse of the off-field bond between the players but also showcased the spirit that drove PBKS through a memorable 2025 campaign.

Shreyas Iyer, who was snapped up by PBKS for a staggering ₹26.75 crore—making him the second-most expensive player in IPL history—was appointed captain ahead of the season. Under his dynamic leadership, PBKS made a strong run in the tournament, finishing as runners-up after a heartbreaking six-run defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The captain led from the front throughout the season, finishing as the team’s top scorer with 604 runs in 17 innings at a blistering strike rate of 175.07. He anchored many of PBKS’ successful chases and provided stability at the top order. His leadership style, marked by composure and passion, played a major role in rejuvenating the franchise.

Shashank Singh quietly emerged as one of PBKS’ key contributors. Valued for his versatility and composure under pressure, the all-rounder scored 350 runs in 14 innings at a striking rate of 153.50, delivering several crucial knocks that powered the team’s playoff push.

Their indoor match not only provided comic relief but symbolized the synergy that made PBKS one of the standout teams this season. While the IPL action may have ended, it’s clear that for players like Iyer and Shashank, the game never truly stops.
