In a bid to accommodate the influx of commuters during IPL 2024 matches and the Bidadi Marathon, the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced extended metro services and special provisions.
For IPL matches held at Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 25, 29, and April 2, BMRCL will extend its last train services until 11:30 pm, ensuring fans have ample time for their return journey. Moreover, the first metro train service will commence at 4:30 am on Sunday, March 24, to facilitate participants and spectators of the Bidadi Marathon, scheduled at the Bidadi industrial area.
To streamline travel arrangements, BMRCL will issue return journey paper tickets priced at Rs 50 on match days. These tickets, available from 2 pm onwards, will be valid for single journeys from Cubbon Park and MG Road metro stations to all other stations, starting from 8 pm on the day of issue. Additionally, commuters can purchase tickets using NCMC cards, tokens, or QR code tickets as usual.
BMRCL urges passengers to utilize these provisions to alleviate congestion at metro stations. By extending services and introducing special ticketing arrangements, BMRCL aims to ensure smooth and efficient transportation for all commuters during these events.
