On Sunday, the England Cricket Board (ECB) announced that middle-order batsman Harry Brook will be returning to the UK and will miss the upcoming Test tour of India due to personal reasons.
The ECB statement states, “Due to personal reasons, Harry Brook will be returning home immediately from the England Men’s Test tour of India, and he will not be rejoining the team in India.”
Brook, 24, has already played 12 Tests, accumulating 1181 runs at an impressive average of 62.15, featuring four centuries and seven fifties. Despite his absence, the England selectors are expected to name a replacement player for the tour in the coming days.
The Test series against India is scheduled to kick off on January 25 in Hyderabad, followed by the second Test in Vizag starting on February 2. Brook’s withdrawal adds an element of uncertainty to England’s middle-order composition, and fans await the announcement of the replacement player for this crucial tour.
