Wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, skipper of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL, faced disappointment as he was left out of Team India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The decision, which also saw Rahul missing out on a place in the traveling reserves, stirred debate, with even Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh expressing his disagreement.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Deshmukh voiced his opinion, asserting that Rahul deserved a spot in the Men in Blue squad for the ICC event. “KL Rahul should have been there in the #T20WorldCup squad,” Deshmukh wrote, reflecting the sentiments of many fans.
Rahul’s exclusion comes despite his commendable performance in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Returning to action after a brief injury hiatus, Rahul showcased his batting prowess, emerging as the leading run-scorer for Lucknow this season.
While Rahul’s absence may disappoint fans and pundits alike, it underscores the fierce competition and depth of talent within Indian cricket. As Team India gears up for the T20 World Cup, all eyes will be on the selected squad to deliver a stellar performance on the global stage.
