Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered a setback in the ongoing IPL 2024 as fast bowler Shivam Mavi has been sidelined with an injury, as confirmed in a recent video shared by the franchise on Instagram. Mavi expressed his disappointment, stating, “I will miss [the tournament] a lot.” Despite his undisclosed injury, Mavi emphasized the importance of mental resilience in overcoming setbacks in a cricketer’s career.
The specifics of Mavi’s injury were not disclosed in the video. However, he expressed his intention to focus on recovery and making a strong comeback. Mavi, who was acquired by LSG for a substantial INR 6.4 crores in this year’s auction, last appeared in a competitive match in August 2023. Despite his absence, LSG has managed to secure two wins out of three matches, currently occupying the fourth position on the points table.
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Mavi remained optimistic, stating, “We got a very good team.” He expressed his commitment to supporting his teammates from the sidelines and conveyed his hopes for the team’s success in the tournament despite his absence due to injury.
