Delhi Capitals’ skipper Rishabh Pant has been penalized with a hefty fine of ₹24 Lakh for the second consecutive time due to maintaining a slow-over rate during their recent IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday in Vizag. The entire playing XI of DC also faced penalties for the offense during the game, where DC suffered their third loss of the season.
Despite Pant’s notable performance with the bat, along with Tristan Stubbs, the rest of the Delhi side faltered as KKR posted a mammoth score of 272 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. This formidable target set up a challenging chase for DC.
Unfortunately for the home side, their innings concluded at 166, resulting in a resounding 106-run victory for KKR. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) issued a statement post-match, revealing that Pant incurred the fine due to DC’s slow over-rate. This penalty comes after DC faced a similar situation in their previous win against Chennai Super Kings, leading to Pant’s hefty fine.
