Rohit Sharma’s Playful Dig at RCB’s Karthik: In a moment of friendly banter amidst the intense cricketing action, former Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma was caught on the stump mic, playfully teasing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik during their recent face-off at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.
Rohit, also the captain of the Indian cricket team, took a light-hearted dig at Karthik regarding the upcoming T20 World Cup selection. “Shabash DK! T20 WC mein selection ke liye push karna hai isko. Dimag mein chal raha hai iske World Cup,” Rohit quipped, applauding Karthik’s performance while cheekily suggesting that he is vying for a spot in the T20 World Cup squad and is preoccupied with thoughts of the tournament.
Karthik, who exhibited a blistering innings, remained unbeaten on 53 runs off just 23 deliveries, comprising five boundaries and four towering sixes. His explosive knock played a pivotal role in RCB’s total of 196-8 in their allotted 20 overs.
However, the Mumbai Indians’ chase was nothing short of spectacular. Ishan Kishan set the tone with a scintillating 69 off 34 balls, while Suryakumar Yadav added to the fireworks with a blazing 52 off a mere 19 deliveries. Their collective efforts propelled Mumbai Indians to a commanding victory, as they reached the target of 198 in just 15.3 overs.
In a fitting conclusion to the match, Mumbai Indians clinched the win with 199-3 on the board, with Karthik’s valiant effort for RCB ultimately falling short against the onslaught from the Mumbai batsmen.
The light-hearted exchange between Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik not only added an entertaining element to the contest but also showcased the camaraderie and mutual respect shared among players in the fiercely competitive world of cricket.
