In a groundbreaking move, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has appointed the dynamic Indian all-rounder, Deepti Sharma, as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). This announcement comes as a testament to Deepti’s exceptional skills and unwavering dedication both on and off the cricket field.
A Glimpse into Deepti’s Humble Beginnings
Deepti Sharma’s journey to success traces back to the modest locality of Awadhpuri in Agra. Growing up in challenging circumstances, Deepti discovered her passion for cricket and started honing her skills alongside local legends such as Deepak Chahar. Her commitment and talent paved the way for her international debut in 2014.
Triumphs on the Cricket Field
Since her debut, Deepti has been a stalwart for the Indian national team, featuring in 194 matches and impressively claiming 229 wickets. Not only has she showcased her prowess with the ball, but she has also been a reliable batter in the lower order. Deepti played a pivotal role in India’s triumphs at the Women’s Asia Cup in 2018 and 2022, as well as securing gold in the Asian Games in China and silver at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Deepti Sharma’s stellar performances did not go unnoticed by the International Cricket Council (ICC). In December 2023, she became the second Indian woman cricketer to receive the prestigious ICC ‘Player of the Month’ award, a fitting acknowledgment of her outstanding all-around contributions.
