Virat Kohli Fined 50% of Match Fees for Breaching IPL Code of Conduct

Virat Kohli, the captain of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), faced a penalty of 50% of his match fees due to a breach of the IPL Code of Conduct during RCB’s narrow one-run defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on Sunday.

The IPL released a statement saying, “Mr. Virat Kohli, Batter, Royal Challengers Bengaluru has been fined 50% of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during Match 36 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against KKR at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on April 21, 2024.”

According to the statement, Kohli committed a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offense and accepted the decision of the Match Referee. The statement clarified that for Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.
