Delhi Capitals have made a significant addition to their squad for the remainder of the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) season by announcing South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams as the replacement for English batter Harry Brook. Williams, known for his pace and skill, joins the Capitals for his base price of Rs. 50 lakh.
The decision to bring in Williams comes after Brook, who was acquired for a hefty sum of Rs. 4 crore at the auction last year, opted to skip the tournament. Brook made the difficult choice to be with his grieving family following the passing of his grandmother.
Williams, who has represented South Africa in two Tests, four One-Day Internationals, and 11 T20Is, brings a wealth of international experience to the Delhi Capitals lineup. His ability to bowl at high speeds and deliver crucial breakthroughs will be a valuable asset for the franchise as they look to strengthen their bowling attack for the remainder of the season.
The inclusion of Williams adds depth to the Capitals’ pace battery and provides them with more options in their quest for success in the IPL. With his talent and experience, Williams is expected to make an immediate impact and contribute significantly to the team’s campaign in the tournament.
