Venkatesh Iyer found himself in the spotlight after swiftly sending back a sprinting Andre Russell, who aimed for a quick single. However, a somewhat inaccurate throw from Jasprit Bumrah to short third man was adeptly collected by Hardik Pandya. With precision, the MI skipper dislodged the bails, leading to Russell’s frustrating departure from the crease.
Following the match, in a video capturing the post-game banter, Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell, alongside MI’s Suryakumar Yadav and KKR CEO Venky Mysore, engaged in a jovial discussion about the run-out incident.
With a humorous twist, Venkatesh commented on Russell’s unexpected speed, quipping, “I blinked, and there he was! (laughs). He doesn’t usually dash like that, wonder why he was sprinting today.”
Adding to the light-hearted banter, Suryakumar Yadav playfully suggested that Venkatesh meant Russell was usually slow between the wickets, eliciting laughter from those present.
Despite the amusing interlude, KKR emerged victorious in the match, clinching a 24-run win. However, Venkatesh Iyer’s stellar performance, highlighted by his impressive knock of 70 runs off 52 balls, earned him the well-deserved Player of the Match accolade.
